Dear PVSEA Families and PVSD Community,

I am humbled to join the Pleasant Valley School of Engineering and Arts (PVSEA) community as your principal. I look forward to working with each of you, and the expert staff at PVSEA, to…

Camarillo is where I grew up, a proud Dos Caminos graduate, and is the place I continue to call home. Family is extremely important to me; with four siblings and eight nieces and nephews, “Uncle” is one of my favorite titles.
Professionally, this upcoming year marks my 20th year in education. My educational journey includes a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Linfield University and a diploma in Hispanic Studies from the University of Granada in Spain. While in college, I first began working in schools as a basketball coach and student teacher at Dayton High School and Newberg High School which inspired me to become a classroom teacher. In 2007, after obtaining my Clear Single Subject Teaching Credential in Foreign Language, I was hired as Spanish teacher at Malibu High School. “Maestro Miller” is another one of my favorite titles. Since then, I have had the privilege of serving the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District for the majority of my career. I earned a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from California State University, Northridge and a Clear Administrative Services Credential. In our Malibu public schools, I have gone on to serve in roles including Assistant Principal, Principal, and Director. Having led sites at every level from TK through 12, I am eager to support all grade spans at PVSEA with an understanding of the unique joys and needs at each stage of your student’s educational journey. I recognize that I have much to learn about the specific culture, traditions, and practices that make PVSEA special. The unique PK-8 setting is a powerful model that strengthens relationships between peers, encourages meaningful parental involvement and connection to school, and fosters a deep sense of pride in their school between students, staff, and families. I look forward to meeting with you as parents, and with your students, to hear what you love about PVSEA and how we can best support you and your students. I want to express my sincere appreciation to the Board of Education, Superintendent Dr. Cortes and PVSD leadership staff, and the staff at PVSEA for the opportunity to serve. It is a tremendous responsibility. I look forward to working with our parents and educational partners to ensure each student loves coming to school and that all students graduate prepared for the next level, keeping every door open.
